What is the Florence Nightingale Nursing Theory?

After my last blog, I did more research and I found out that there is actually a theory according to Nightingale about nursing. According to Nightingale on http://www.wikipedia.org/ , nursing contributes to the ability of persons to maintain and restore health directly or indirectly through managing the environment. She felt as if the person has a key role in their health and the function of the health through the interaction of the person, the nurse, and the environment. The theory involves the environment because of certain factors such as: pure or fresh air, pure water, sufficient food supplies, and cleanliness.

After reading this theory by Nightingale, I agree completely with her. I feel that the person does play a key role in their health because for example. a person decides what they want to put into their bodies. Along with what was just said, in order to nurse someone, it has to involve the relationship with the person who is ill, the nurse, and the environment.

My thought process for this blog consisted of going to Google Search and found an article on http://www.wikipedia.org/. The information that I obtained was reliable because I checked the other articles that the information came from and it all matched. I learned alot from doing these blogs that I had no idea about in my major of nursing. The link that I used was: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nightingale's_environmental_theory
