On my last blog post, I found out information on the non-profit organization called Wikileaks. I did not know any information about this topic, but I found out exactly when and who represents this organization. My next question about this topic, is how does Wikileaks manage their funding?
Wikileaks, has not always had a good experience with their funding for the organization. In 2009, they announced that they were having a shortage of funds, and had to take away the right for people to access their website unless people had new material. Wikileaks did not get their minimum amount of money that they wanted to receive until Feb. of 2010. In January though, Pay Pal suspended Wikileaks donation account and froze all Wikileaks assets. The organization was restored on the twenty-fifth of January and in May 2010 they announced that the archive and website was back up.
For this blog, I found the information listed above from the link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WikiLeaks#Funding. I had no idea that the organization would have this much trouble with money, because if you just read about it you would think it would be a huge trend and soar in the funding field. I always wondered how websites like Wikileaks managed their funding and now from this link I know exactly how. Wikipedia is an excellent source to get information from, and I made sure that my information was accurate by clicking on the links at the bottom of the screen and found exactly where wikipedia.org got their information for this topic.
